Aashiq pushes a table. It does not move.

Which one of the following is correct regarding the above statement?
  1. The applied force is lesser than the frictional force.[i.e] The applied force is unbalanced by the frictional force.
  2. The applied force is equal to the frictional force. [i.e] The applied force is balanced by the frictional force.

Physically, both are correct.

in the first scenarion since the applied force is less than the frictional force therefore it cannot exceed the frictional barrier and hence it will not move.

in the second scenario also though the applied force = frictional barrier, but still it (applied force) needs to be more than the frictional barrier to move the table.
