According to NCERT, Fatty acid has a carboxyl group attached to an R group which can be a methyl or ethyl or a higher number of CH2(1-19). So accordingly, Can acetic acid(CH3COOH) be termed as a fatty acid? if not, why?

Dear User,
Acetic acid cannot be a fatty acid. This is because fatty acid is a carboxylic acid with a long aliphatic chain. This chain can be either saturated or unsaturated . Mostly occurring fatty acids have a chain of carbon atoms from 12 to 28.
