Akshay has 2 rupee coins and 5 rupee coins in her purse If in all she has 80 coins totalling ?200, how many coins of each kind does she have?

She has 60 coins of 2 rupee and

20 coins of 5 rupee

Step-by-step explanation:

Let number of 2 rupee coin = x

And number of 5 rupee coin = y

According to question,

Total number of coins = 80, that is,

x + y = 80

x = 80 - y [ Let this be Eqn 1 ]

Also,

She has coins totalling Rs 220

2x + 5y = 220 [ Let this be Eqn 2]

Substituting the value of x from Eqn 1 to Eqn 2,

2 ( 80 - y ) + 5y = 220

160 - 2y + 5y = 220

160 + 3y = 220

3y = 220 - 160

3y = 60

Dividing both sides by 3

3y / 3 = 60 / 3

y = 20

Substituting value of y in Eqn 1

x = 80 - 20

x = 60

Hence,

She has 60 coins of 2 rupee and

20 coins of 5 rupee
