Aluminium oxide contains 52.9% aluminium and carbon dioxide contain 27.27% carbon assuming the law of reciprocal proportional calculate the percentage of aluminium in aluminium carbide..
My doubt is that . When I have calculate
the ratio of aluminium and carbon it was found to be as 3 ratio 1 which was correct as per the solution and then after I went on solving The question which is in the referred image ...
Tell me where I do wrong

Dear student,

In Aluminium oxide, Al is 52.9% and Oxygen is 100−52.9 =47.1%
In CO2, C is 27.27% and Oxygen is 100−27.27 =72.73%
72.73g of Oxygen combines with 27.27g of C
thus 47.10g oxygen combines with27.27×47.1/72.73= 17.62g C
The ratio of fixed masses of Al and C which combine with a fixed mass
i.e with 47.10g of Oxygen is = 52.9 : 17.62 = 3:1
Thus mass of Aluminium carbide =52.90+ 17.62 =70.52g
Thus70.52g of Aluminium carbide contain 52.9g Al
100 g will contain = 52.9×100/70.52 = 75.01g
Thus % of Al in Aluminium carbide =75.01%
