Ans is given c why???@ 8. If a cell in prophese of mitosis having amount of DNA 4C. What would be the amount of DNA after s-phase in the her cells of this dividing cell. (4) 8C

Dear Student

A cell cycle is divided into G1,S,G2 and M phase.

G1 or first growth phase which is followed by S phase or synthesis phase.
DNA replication occurs in S phase and DNA amount doubles up in a cell..
G2 phase is the second growth phase where DNA content remains same.
M phase is the phase where DNA content either regains  the same level(mitosis) or become halved (in meiosis).

In the question above, prophase of mitosis have amount of DNA 4C.
Now, two daughter cells are produced in mitosis. These daughter cells will have amount of DNA 2C. When these daughter cells enter cell cycle, during S-phase DNA content doubles itself. So, the DNA content again becomes 4C.

So the answer is (3) 4C.
