Dear student
2 FeSO4 --> Fe2O3+SO2+SO3
ferrous sulphate crystals lose water and anhydrous ferrous sulphate (FeSO4) is formed. So their colour changes from light green to white.
Fe2O3 is reddish brown
the two gases are SO2 and SO3
SO2 gas is an oxidant
SO3 can act as an oxidant/ reductant depending on the nature of the other reactants.
hydrated solution of ferrous sulphate is green in colour whose formula is FeSO4.7H2O
