Dear student,
The 2 components of food security program set up by the Government of India are-
1. Buffer stock: It is the stock of wheat and rice obtained by the government through FCI. FCI purchases wheat and rice from states having surplus production and pays them the minimum support price (pre-announced). and these grains are distributed to the poorer section of the society at a lower price than the market.
2. PDS- The food obtained by the FCI is distributed through govt regulated or appointed ration shops to the poorer section of the society, particularly BPL and Antodaya.
