An electric bell is an electric device such that it has been connected in an electric circuit such that to produce sound when current is allowed to pass through.
An electric bell has two components in basic :
1. Electric circuit - it has an armature having wired coiled over it having connection with battery and switch. The armature is made to act like and electromagnet when switch is pressed and current flows through complete circuit.
2. Iron gong : Generally it is spherical in structure.
Now when the switch is on, the current flows through circuit and the armature behaves like an electromagnet. Since magnet attracts magnetic material, it strikes the gong and hence produces sound. This is possible as long as switch is pressed.
