Are human beings vertebrates explain why

Solutions:

A vertebrate is an animal with a backbone (spine) and an invertebrate has no backbone, usually it has an exoskeleton.

General features of vertebrates are-

  •  Notochord is present only in the embryonic stage.
  • In adults, the notochord is replaced by a vertebral column consisting of ring-like bones called vertebrae.
  • They have a muscular heart with two, three, or four chambers.
  • They are bilaterally symmetrical and triploblastic. The body cavity is enterocoelom.
  • They have paired gill pouches.
Humans
  • In humans the notochord is present only at the time of embryonic development which later differentiates into a vertebral column.
  • They have a well-developed skull and spinal cord inside the hollow vertebrae and a very complex nervous system running throughout the body.
  • Thus, humans are vertebrates.
