as earthworms are bisexual, than y do they need another worm for copulation?

Dear Student!

Earthworms are bisexual as they produce both the male and female gamete but they cannot fertilize the egg with their own sperm. They need a mating partner which can donate its sperm and similarly accept the sperm. When earthworms copulate they only exchange the sperm which fuses with its own egg. So in fertilization process of earthworm the egg (own) fuses with the sperm (from mating partner) for genetic variation.

Even though earthworms are Hermaphrodite or bisexual_ they need another worm for copulation because they remain in protandry condition i.e. only one sex_ organ mature at a time. So Due to functioning of only one sex_ organ at a time, they need another worm for copulation.
