Bacteria have a simpler body plan as compared to human beings who have a complex body organisation. Does it mean that human beings are more evolved than bacteria??

(please answer with a yes or no with correct and appropriate explanation. No copy paste and beating around the bush, please).

Hi,

Humans are more evolved cannot be simply answered on the basis of complexity. It means that its not always necessary that if an organism is more complexed than it is more evolved.

So complexity isn't a measure of "most evolved".

  • Humans and bacteria have both been evolving for the same 4 billion years.
  • Bacteria spent the time evolving characteristics that made them very hardy in almost any environment.
  • Both are well adapted to the ecological niches they exist in.
  • Both now co-exist.

Hope this clears your doubt.

All the best !!
