The Harmandir Sahib, also Darbar Sahib and informally referred to as the "Golden Temple", is a prominent Sikh Gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It was built by the fifth Sikh guru, Guru Arjan, in the 16th Century.

The golden temple in Amritsar that is known commonly as Harmandir Sahib was built from December 1585 AD to August 1604 AD. Construction of the temple was started by Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh Guru and was completed by his successor Guru Arjan Dev.
