can hydronium ion be considered as a compound

Dear Student
A compound is a substance which is composed of atoms from more than on element held together by chemical bond.
Hydronium ion consists of atoms of hydrogen and oxygen. Hence it can be said as a compound.
However we generally prefer to compound or atoms or elements with charge as ions because that is the convention.
