Can u explain biomagnification of DDT in an aquatic food chain. How does it affect the bird population?

biomagnification is the increase in toxicant at successive trophic levels. the increase takes place due to accumulation of toxicant in organism which can't be metabolised not ir can be excreted out. one such example of biomagnification is increase in DDT level. fish eating birds are most affected as they are at the highest level. increase toxicant lowers down calcium metabolism in birds which result in thinning of shells and thus premature breaking of eggs and finaly leading to decrease in bir population.
