Can u make a quadratic equation for the following-

two years ago,jacob's age was 3 times the square of john's age. in 3 yrs time, john's age will be one fourth of jacob's age. find their present ages.

Let John's age before 2 years be x years old.

Then, Jacob's age before 2 years = 3x2 years

 

So, present age of John = (x + 2) years

Present age of Jacob = (3x2 + 2) years

 

After 3 years, John’s age = (x + 2 + 3) years = (x + 5) years

After 3 years, Jacob’s age = (3x2 + 2 + 3) years = (3x2 + 5) years

let the present age of jacob be "x"and john's be "y"

2-x=3y2

x+3=1/4x
