Can we clearly figure out from the question that they are asking about haplontic cycle or haplo-diplontic cycle? It's mentioned dominant gametophyte but that is also what is seen in case of haplo-diplontic cycle. Further, kelps, Ectocarpus and Polysiphonia show haplo-diplontic cycle. Please explain my ans is incorrect or not
Dear Student, In haplo-diplontic life cycle, both the satges, i.e., sporophyte and gametophyte both are free living even when gametophyte is dominant. But in Haplontic life cycle sporophyte is not free living and dependent on gametophyte. So, Option (2) is correct. Regards
