An aquaponic farm is a farm that combines aquaculture with hydroponics. Aquaculture refers to raising acquatic animals like fish, prawns, crabs etc. and hydroponics mean cultivating plants in water. Aquaponics create a symbiotic relationship between the acquatic animals and the plants that are grown. In normal acquaculture, the waste products of the animals raised makes the water toxic. However, in an acquaponic farm, the plants can use these waste product as nutrients which keeps the water non-toxic.
