The mean for the given series is 
$$\begin{gathered} \frac{4+6+8+10+12}{5}=8 \\ When mean is increased by 2 then the sum of observation can be found as \\ \frac{x}{5}=10 \\ or, x= 50 \end{gathered}$$

Ans 2) If the mean is to remain the same then the sum of observations should remain the same as 40. If the first three observations are increased by 2 then the sum increases by 8 so the last two observations must be reduced by 4 each such that the summation remains the same.

Ans 3) If the value 12 is replaced by 96 then the mean becomes, 
$$\begin{gathered} \frac{4+6+8+10+96}{5}=8 \\ =24.8 \end{gathered}$$
