copper does not burn but the hot metal is coated with a black colour layer of copper oxide why is it so ?
PLS ANSWER ME ????

Dear student. At normal temperature the surface of copper is covered with copper oxide. This copper oxide protects copper from further oxidation. Thus this copper oxide does not burn because it has already reacted with oxygen present in air and no further oxidation takes place. Thanks and regards.
