copper is precipitated as sulphide in the 2nd group while Zn is precipitated as sulphide in group 4. explain .

The solubility products of the second group sulphides is less than the solubility products of the fourth group sulphides.
Copper is precipitated as sulphide in the 2nd group It is precipitate as the sulphides from 0.3M HCl containing H2S. Reason is Soft acids react with a very soft base. Zn is precipitated as sulphide in group 4. i.e. borderline acids bind to a very soft base, when the pH is adjusted so as to weaken the M(OH2)n m+ hydrated cation.
