DEAR EXPERTS..
Please answer this question at the earliest.In the chapter Last lesson, I did not understand the following sentence- "What would I not have given to be able to speak that dreadful rule for the participle all though very loud and clear,and without any mistake". The sentence is in page no. 5 of the Flamingo textbook.

The above mentioned sentence is said by Franz when his turn came and his name was announced to recite the rule of the participle. Franz was supposed to learn these rule of participle that he had been procrastinating for long. Upon knowing the fact that it was their last french lesson, he was remorseful and felt guilty that he should have learnt the language more seriously as it was the mother tongue. He thought that at least that he should have recited the rules flawlessly.
