dear experts ,

What is the significance of atrio-ventricular node and atrio-ventricular bundle in the functioning of heart?

this is an ncert question and solved in ur website but i am ot satisfied wid da answer...can u plz answer in brief to the question...........like wat is their role in cardiac cycle..

plzz answer..

A-V node and A-V bundle are present in Nodal tissue. A-V node lies in the wall between the right auricle and right ventricle. The A-V bundles originates from the A-V node passes downward through the Inter auricular and inter ventricular septa and divides into the right and left bundle branches one going into the wall of each ventricle.

The auricular contraction stimulates the A-V node, which generates a fresh wave of contraction that passes over both the ventricles simultaneously among the A-V Bundle and its branches. At the A-V node, the impulses are delayed for about 0.1 second to ensure that the auricles will contract first and empty fully before the ventricles contract. Thus, ventricular contraction initiated by A-V node through the A-V Bundle.

A-V node causes this delay in the cardiac pulse, which is extremely important. The A-V Bundle is an important part of the electrical conduction system of the heart as it transmits impulses from the A-V node to the ventricles of the heart.

  • The atrioventricular (AV) node is a section of nodal tissue that lies on the right side of the partition that divides the atria, near the bottom of the right atrium.

Function:

  • The atrioventricular bundle is a bundle of fibers that are located within the septum of the heart.
