dear teacher ,i find this confusing ,can you explain
rewrite these sentences by omitting predicates.
a)The gardener was watering the plants all his while but now he is not watering the plants .
b)He tried to hide his tears in front of us but could not hide his tears in front of us .

my question is if we omit the predicate only the subject would remain ....that would be weird !
so then how do we solve this question.

Dear student,

Your observation is good. However, in my opinion, the question should have been 'Rewrite these sentences by omitting predicate of the second clause.'

In that case the answers would be:
  • The gardener was watering the plants all this while but not anymore.
  • He tried to hide his tears in front of us but could not do so in front of us.
