It is the value of all final goods and services produced during the year within a country.
GDP shows how big the economy is.
GDP per capita is often considered as an indicator of a country's standard of living. 
Sum of Production given by three sectors (i.e., Primary, Secondary and Teritary) is what is known as the Gross Domestic Product.
In India, the task of measuring GDP is undertaken by Central Government Ministry.
Such Ministry, with help of various other government departments of all Indian states and Union Territories, collects all information related to Goods and Services like their Volume, prices etc and then they estimate the GDP.
