Define Phylum Arthropoda.

Arthropoda is the largest phylum of Animalia. They have organ system level of organisation. They have bilateral symmetry, are segmented coelomate organisms. Body is covered with chitinous exoskeleton. Body consists of head, thorax and abdomen. Sensory organs like antennae, eyes, statocysts or balance organs are present. Excretion is by malphigian tubules. They have jointed appendages. They are mostly dioecious. Fertilization is internal. Mostly oviparous. eg. Honey bee, Silkworm, Lac insect, Mosquitoes, Locust, Crab.
