Define relative clause

Dear student,

- A relative clause is a type of dependent clause.
- It starts with relative pronouns: who, that, which, where, whose, when.
- It is a a non-essential part of a sentence: if it is removed, the sentence still remains grammatically correct.
- Here are some examples:
  • He is the man who was gave the speech yesterday.
  • This is the school where I studied.
  • She was searching for the book which was in her hand.
  • She offered a proposal which Nick did not accept.
