Describe food chain

Dear Student,

A food chain is a linear sequence of organisms in which each organism is eaten by the next member in the sequence. This interaction among organisms involves the transfer of energy from one organism to another.
Food chains usually have only 3-4 steps i.e., producer → Primary consumer → Secondary consumer → Tertiary consumer.

For example - In a forest, grass ( producer) is eaten by ants or grass hoppers (primary consumer) which is further eaten by snakes (secondary consumer) and finally eaten up by Vultures, Hawks ( tertiary consumer).
