Describe Gulliver's visit to the island of Glubdubdrip and his talking with the ghosts of the dead souls .

When Gulliver arrived at Maldonada, he realised that he would have to wait a month to leave for Luggnagg so he decided to take a detour to Glubbdubdrib. Glubbdubdrib was an island inhabited by sorcerers and was ruled by a tribe skilled in magic. The governor of this island was skilled in necromancy and had the ability to call the dead to serve him and his family for about twenty-four hours and the same spirit could not be called again for another three months except in extraordinary circumstances. Gulliver could not help being horrified when he saw the dead guards at the governor's residence but with time was able to conquer his fear. He never stayed at the governor's house at night, so immense was his discomfort. Gulliver was given the chance to summon anyone from the dead and ask questions which would have been answered truthfully. He first decided to call the spirit of Alexander the Great. On being asked how he died, Alexander reassures him that it was not poison but a fever caused by excessive drinking that caused his death. Next came Hannibal, who told him that there was not any vinegar in his camp. He saw Julius Caesar and Brutus as well. Caesar even confessed to him that his actions in life did not live up to the glory attached to them after his death. Brutus and Caesar seemed at ease with one another. A long conversation with Brutus followed and Gulliver came to know that Junius, Socrates, Epaminondas, Cato the younger, Sir Thomas More and Brutus were always together and enjoyed each other's company. He thus interviewed countless conquerors and statesmen and then decided to set aside one full day to call the spirits of learned men. Thus, Gulliver ended up meeting the spirits of Homer, Aristotle, Descartes and Gassendi.
