Please clarify as to how many burglaries had taken place. There were two I suppose.
The first one happened when the Franks were sitting together and Peter burst in with the news of the break in. The next one was as follows.
Anne describes how Peter called her father upstairs saying he wanted some help. But, Anne assumed and told Margot that there would be burglars in the house. Her assumption was true as burglars had broken into the warehouse. While the men went upstairs, the women waited patiently. It was as late as ten o' clock when they returned. They moved upstairs, as they were instructed by Anne's father. Anne and the other women later understood that when the burglars broke in, the men screamed 'police'. Anne and the others in the secret place were quiet through the night and made no movement, in order to avoid being caught by the police. However, the next day, the police arrived and by God's grace, Anne and the group were not found.
