difference btwn generator and motor

MOTORGENERATOR
1. Converts electrical energy to mechanical energy.1. Converts mechanical energy to electrical energy.
2.applying Fleming’s left hand rule for the direction of force on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field.2.applying Fleming’s right-hand rule, the direction of the  induced currents can be found.
3.In electric motors, the split ring acts as a commutator to reverse the direction of the flow of the current.3. A continuous ring is used to produce ac current but to produce dc current, one has to use split rings.
4.Electric motor is used as an important component in electric fans, refrigerators, mixers, washing machines, computers.4.Electric generator is used to produce large currents for use in homes and industry.
