Difference bw though and although

There isn't much difference between though and although. They can be considered as synonyms. However, 'although' was used to show more emphasis and meant 'even though'.
Example - Although (Even though) he was very sick, he came for the party. (used to emphasis the degree of his illness)
He came for the party though he was sick (does not emphasise the degree of the statement as the above)

Although has the connotation of being more formal and more "attention-getting," and is more often used at the beginnings of sentences as a preposition. It puts the focus on whatever you're going to be talking about in the first half of the sentences.   Though is more flexible and can be used anywhere.
