differentiate between chordates and vertebrates

Dear Student,

Please find the difference below:

Chordates Vertebrates
Chordates constitute a big group of animals (Phylum)  that show presence of notochord at some or the all  the stages of their life time.  Vertebrates constitute a sub group of animals (sub phylum) under chordates in which notochord in embryological stages  is replaced by vertebral column (backbone). So, all vertebrates are chordates.
They include both primitive and advanced chordates. They are advanced chordates.
They include both invertebrates chordates( such as tunicates and cephalochordates)  and vertebrates chordates. They include classes- Pisces,Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves and Mammalia.
