Plant fibre is obtained from plants example cotton and jute Animal fibre is obtained from animals example silk and wool

Animal fibers like silk or wool are made of proteins.
Wool is keratin and silk from silk worms is fibroin and sericin. The fibroin fiber is not a simple repeat of two or three amino acids it is a complex zigzag chaining sequence containing nearly 20 amino acid residues in it.
Raw silk fiber is a micro composite of small crystalline lengths alternating with segments of about 15 amino acids that are glassy when dry. This is embedded in a matrix of amorphous rubbery sercin polypeptide. The crystalline domains occupy only about 30% of the dry silk.
The secondary structure of silk is an example of the beta pleated sheet. In this structure, individual protein chains are aligned side-by-side with every other protein chain aligned in an opposite direction. The protein chains are held together by intermolecular hydrogen bonding, that is hydrogen bonding between amide groups of two separate chains. This intermolecular hydrogen bonding in the beta-pleated sheet is in contrast to the intramolecular hydrogen bonding in the alpha-helix in wool.
