discuss the role of revolutionary in creating italy a nation state.

Dear Student,

During the 1830s, the Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Mazzini had sought to unite Italy as a nation-state and undertaken a programme with a sole idea to transform Italy into a republic. But the failure of revolutionary uprisings in 1831 and 1848 had resulted in seeking the help of Sardinia-Piedmont's new ruler Victor Emmanuel II to unify the Italian states through the means of war. Through alliances with France and with the help of a large group of armed volunteers under Giuseppe Garibaldi, they were successful in driving out the Spanish and austrian rulers. Garibaldi was supported by the peasants of southern Italy in achieving victory to unite Italy as a nation-state. This was the role of revolutionaries in creating Italy as a nation-state.
