This data is important to analyse market trends, hidden patterns and customer preferences. This data when made available to industries give them a massive advantage over its competitors.
The data that is collected through various websites indicates towards customer preferences, spending patterns and age group etc. The industries use this data to increase the production of the item which is more popular among the customers. For example I wanted to buy a party dress which was yellow in colour. I bought the dress for a certain price which was in my budget. Next time when I visited the same site, the website showed yellow colour party dresses which were available at the same price for which I had bought the previous dress.
