Discuss Vikram Seth's The frog and the Nightingale in reference to the following topic
.Trustworthiness
.Self Confidence
.Exploitation

Dear Student,
Given below is the answer to your question.

The poem 'The Frog and the Nightingale' is indeed a satire on the exploitation by the music lovers. The Nightingale was gifted in singing and it received praises and applause from the other animals. However the jealousy and crookedness of the frog led to the death of the nightingale. The frog establishes his superiority over the nightingale by not readily accepting her singing skills. When the other animals agree that the song had been beautiful, the frog disagrees and criticises the nightingale. The frog also remarks that the nightingale needs to train under him and practise well in order to sing well. Through these comments, he is asserting his position high above that of the nightingale. The frog also affirms that by doing so, the nightingale would have a better future in the vocal world. The nightingale was foolish to listen to the words of the frog. She did not believe in her talents but was over ambitious to achieve what was beyond her ability. Even when she started practising, she did not voice her feelings against her oppressor but, gladly succumbed to his wishes. Thus, she trusted him too much.
