Dissolving common salt in water is the physical change or chemical change?

Adding salt to water is a physical change because it does not lead to the formation of any new chemical substance. The composition of both salt and water remains the same. Moreover, the components of a mixture of salt and water can be separated by simple physical methods, which is not possible if a chemical change occurs.
