Densely populated areas refer to the place where the population density, ie number of person living per unit area. These places are often populated because these places have climate, fertile soil for agriculture, better facilities like education and healthcare, availability of jobs etc. Example-  Ganga -Brahmaputra plain etc.
             Whereas, moderately populated area refers to places where average number of people live per unit area. These places have comparatively lower population density than that of densely populated areas. These places are neither scarcely populated neither densely. Example- Central India etc.

Densely populated :
1. At world level, the regions where the population
is above 100 persons per square km are
considered as areas of high population density.
2. The density of population is very high along the
fertile river valleys and industrial regions of the
world.
3. Examples: Japan and Korea.


Moderately Populated:
1. Regions where population is between 50 and 100
persons per square km are considered as areas of
moderate population density. They fall between
densely and sparsely populated regions.
2. These regions are in general agriculturally
developed and semi-urban in nature. Industries
have begun to develop here.
3. Examples: Iran, Iraq and Eastern Europe.
