DO cytokinins have a good role to play with Source and sinK? if yes how?

Dear Student.
Please find below the solution to the asked query.

Cytokinin is a plant hormone. It promotes cell division in plants or in culture medium. Therefore, present in greater concentration in those areas of the plants where rapid cell division occurs. For example, tip of the shoot.

In plants during translocation ‘source’ is the place where the osmotic concentration of sugar and water pressure are higher. ‘Sink’ is the place with a lower osmotic concentration of sugar and low water pressure. Inside phloem, the sugar solution flows from source to sink.

There is no direct role of cytokinin with source and sink, though cytokinins are known to induce extracellular invertase and a hexose transporter that can regulate source-sink transport in order to meet demand for carbohydrates.
