Do we have to write about electromagnet or the electric current produces a magnetic field?

Question No. 27

Radha wraps insulated copper wires onto an iron nail. To the ends of the wire, she connects a cell and a switch. When she switches-off the switch, she observes that the pins cling to the nail. Explain the reason for her observation.

Solution

When Radha closes the switch, electric current flows through the wire. It behaves as a magnet because of the magnetic effect of current. Hence, the pins cling to the nail.

Dear Student

Answer given is sufficient. No need to write that electromagnet or the electric current produces a magnetic field. As in answer it is already mention that magnetic effect of electric current causes it to behave as magnet.
