Does cytokinin have ny effect on unripe maize?

Dear student

Cytokinins promote mainly the cell division, or cytokinesis, in plant roots and shoots. They are involved primarily in cell growth and differentiation, but also affect apical dominance, axillary bud growth, and leaf senescence.
It does not play any role in ripening.
For ripening, Ethylene is the phytohormone which brings out the effect.

So on unripe maize, cytokinin will only promote cell division (mainly), but will not cause ripening of maize.
