Genetic drift is the random alteration. This alteration can lead to the whole new population with different attributes. so it gives them better survival rate and thus help them in comping up with the environment.

Genetic drift happens when an organism moves away from its original population to a geographically different location. Thus, to adapt to the new environmental conditions when there is a change in the gene frequency of that organism over a period of time it is said to have undergone a genetic drift. So definitely, genetic drift helps the organism and its progeny to survive better in the new environment
