This was because he had truly overcome his aversion of fear and was no longer the slave to his terrible terror of water.Also he felt that inner stark terror and fear can only be experienced by those who have experienced it.He had managed to overcome this fear and rather quite successfully had , with his determination, willpower, optimistic attitude and to take up his possesion of sheer terror as a challenge as it had deprived him of his fishing trips, canoeing and had possesed his mind and heart. He bacame an expert swimmer because of his perseverance and strong will power and ability not to succumb to fear and give in.
