'Duke was more than a companion, a nurse and a guide for his matter.' Explain

Duke was a Doberman Pinscher dog, four years old, weighing 23 kilos, his coat a red with a fawn vest. He was a rough playing dog and that was the reason why Chuck's wife Marcy was apprehensive of having the rambunctious dog around. Duke nearly needed a hectare to play around and it was this very rambunctious nature of his which drew Chuck to Duke. Although the story charts the recovery of Chuck from a debilitating accident, Duke becomes the real hero of the story because it is Duke who helps Chuck renew his faith in himself and give himself another shot at life. Duke understood his master's difficulty right away and never left him alone. He was always there to support his master and comfort him. Duke could not bear Chuck's misery and started prodding him to make him get up from the wheel chair and literally pushed him to walk. It was with Duke's help that Chuck could manage to reclaim his life.
