Electric bulbs switched on for a long time Produce large amount of heat Why the tungsten filament glows even though glass is a conductor of heat but does not break why

Dear Student,

Tungsten is being used as filament in the bulbs because of these reasons:

1) Tungsten is an alloy with high resistance
2) Has high melting point due to which it is used almost exclusively for filament of electric lamps.
3) It can be drawn into thin wire
4) It can be heated to white hot

Thus, it does not break that easily when gets up heated.
