Explain digestive system and its function
The digestive system helps in complete breakdown of food into a form which can be easily absorbed. This provides energy and nutrition for growth and repair.
(i) Mouth: This is the part from where the food enters the body and is chewed up into small pieces by the teeth.
(ii) Oesophagus: It helps in movement of food into the stomach.
(iii) Stomach: The stomach stores and mixes the food received from the oesophagus with the gastric juice.
(iv) Small intestine: It helps in breaking down the food so that the nutrients can be absorbed.
(v) Anus : The waste exits the body from anus.
