When British came in India, they increased the number of taxes and started buying Indian products at low cost or for free of cost . This resulted in less earnings of the workers but the taxes kept increasing so the workers were left with little money which barely fulfilled their daily requirements . British forced farmers to grow indigo plant and barely paid them , but increasing the taxes . This resulted in widespread poverty in the country
