- Explain how diffusion plays an important role in gaseous exchange between the cell and its external environment?
Diffusion is the movements of particles from high concentration to low concentration. In case of oxygen, concentration of oxygen in blood of our body is less than environment so oxygen from environment diffuse in and mixes with blood and through blood capillaries combine with haemoglobin to form oxy-haemoglobin. The opposite occurs for carbon-dioxide. The concentration of carbon-dioxide is more inside are body, so it diffuses out of the body.
