1. Explain how diffusion plays an important role in gaseous exchange between the cell and its external environment?

Diffusion is the movements of particles from high concentration to low concentration. In case of oxygen, concentration of oxygen in blood of our body is less than environment so oxygen from environment diffuse in  and mixes with blood and through blood capillaries combine with haemoglobin to form oxy-haemoglobin. The opposite occurs for carbon-dioxide. The concentration of carbon-dioxide is more inside are body, so it diffuses out of the body.

Suppose diffusion of CO2 gas. in the external environment of cell, the concentration of  CO2 is low as compared to inside of the cell.As soon as there is a difference of concentration of CO2,inside and outside of the cell ,CO2moves out of the cell i.e. from region of high concentration to region of low concentration by the process of diffusion
