Explain how spermatid possesses haploid number of chromosomes??

In males, sperms are produced by spermatogonia (immature germ cells). They are located in the inner walls of the seminiferous tubules. 
Spermatogonia divide by mitosis and are diploid. Some of the spermatogonia (primary spermatocytes) undergo meiosis periodically. After the first meiotic division, two haploid secondary spermatocytes are formed. They further divide by meiosis to give rise to four haploid spermatids. These spermatids are then transformed into sperms by the process of spermiogenesis. 

Hence, the spermatids formed are haploid.

The formation of sperm cells, or spermatogenesis, begins with a germ cell called spermato gonium (2n) that suffers mitosis and gives birth to a number of spermato gonium (2n). This phase is called MULTIPLICATION PHASE .
Out of this certain spermato gonia increase in size and shape & act as a primary spermat ocyte (2n) . This is called GROWTH PHASE. This primary spermat ocyte undergoes meiosis ( 1st meiotic division or MEIOSIS I ) to form two haploid secondary spermat ocyte (n).
Now this two secondary spermat ocytes undergoes mitosis ( 2nd meiotic division or MEIOSIS II ) to form four spermatids (n) . Formation of spermatid from primary spermato cyte is the MATURATION PHASE.
DIFFERENTIATION/SPERMIO GENESIS : Differentiation of spermatid to spermatozoa or sperm (n).
