Dear Student, Cardiac activity is regulated by various hormones and nervous system. Heart also has its own system to regulate its activity. Vagus Nerve slows down the heart activity like decreasing heart rate and contraction of heart. Heart rate is also. Heart regulates its own activity be autonomic nervous system through SA node and AV node to decrease or increase cardiac output. Hormonal regulation is via epinephrine, nor epinephrine and thyroxine hormones that may increase heart rate and cardiac output. This is regulation of cardiac activity by humans. There may be some external regulation by drugs also, in diseased individual like giving calcium channel blockers in hypertensive individuals or ivabradine in individuals with tachycardia. There are many more drugs that you would study in higher studies. Regards
